The word on the street

14 year old with stress & anxiety

"Our daughter is a High School freshman, Varsity/club athlete, and Honors student-otherwise known as a walking bundle of stress!!  Dan quickly helped her to take a step back, breathe, evaluate and gave her the tools she needed to address whatever situation she was in, be it social, sports or school work load.  She had been so stressed it was manifesting itself physically.  This has all stopped.   She was instantly comfortable talking with Dan.  Her work with Dan has once again opened the lines of communications with us and given us our daughter back.  Dan is a great asset to have as a parent, and a comfort to our daughter that she knows he is always available should she need him.  Dan's ability to connect, teach and change perspective is a gift-and one our family is truly grateful for."

10 year old who experiences anger...

"We sought out treatment for our 10 year old son because he was very quick to anger and had a hard time controlling his emotions. He could easily spiral out of control, and it started to affect his performance at school. My son was at first very reluctant to go see Dan, but we convinced him that if he didn’t want to go back, he didn’t have to. Dan was so easy to talk to, and connected with my son instantly. He was able to get him to open up and talk about his feelings. After the first session, my son had no issues about going back to see him for another appointment. They worked together for several months on creating a “tool box” for him to use when he started to feel angry or anxious. We have seen great improvement in his behavior working with Dan, and we would highly recommend him as a therapist for your child."

9 year old with anxiety...

"Our nine year old son started having anxiety that was really negatively affecting all aspects of his lives and we were extremely concerned as to what to do. From the very beginning, Dan put my son (and myself) at ease, he had tremendous empathy, knowledge on the issue and patience and my son looked forward to his weekly meetings. Dan would always have a chat with me after each session so that I could be kept in the loop and we were given really useful tools as to how to cope with the anxiety. My son's anxiety is now in check and I really have to thank Dan for that. We know that we have found a trusted advisor and a mentor of sorts for our son and we know that if any issues arise in the future, we can always know where to go for help."

11 year old boy with school stress...

"My son is a very smart boy, who is extremely focused and hardworking. Unfortunately he was putting an awful lot of pressure on himself to do well. This was causing him to worry too much and also causing him a lot of stress. Dan has helped him so much and I am thankful for him! My son has overcome so much of his worrying and anxiety in such a short time. I am looking forward to where he is headed with his sessions with Dan!"

12 year old boy...

"Just wanted to thank you for all of your help, you got my son through a very dark time!"

7 year old boy...

“Dr. Dan, as my son refers to him, has been a great resource for us. My son is always excited to go see Dan and work on the materials that he uses to bring to life my son’s reactions to challenging situations. He worked with my son to develop a Tool Box which we refer to often and practice using. I saw a reduction in my son’s meltdowns in both how long they last and frequency – he was able to work through his feelings and regulate in a better way. As a parent, it was helpful to discuss my concerns with Dan and he helped me with strategies of how to navigate certain situations, such as family parties and school playground interactions. He also was mindful of the stress of parenting and encouraged me to take time for myself and to step back when possible; this wasn’t said in a way where outsiders suggest taking a day to yourself, etc. where you wonder how could I possibly fit that in – but rather in a realistic approach of just being mindful of where I’m at and how I can be more relaxed when navigating the day with my children. I highly recommend Dan for his work with children and speak of him highly to friends and family."

A Child Therapist Professor...

"I would rate Dan Fellows performance and potential for advanced clinical and scholarly work in the top 10% of graduate level students I have taught and trained during my tenure at the University of Michigan. He is intellectually curious, bright, insightful, intuitive, and highly motivated."
